About
WRITER:
I tend to write deeply personal articles on my migrant experience mainly through the lens of food. My work has been published in The Evening Standard, Good Housekeeping, Delicious and Business Insider. I’m a cookery columnist and regular restaurant reviewer for Time & Leisure. Two of my short stories were published in the literary magazine The Other Side of Hope, one of which was nominated for a Best of the Net Award.
PRESENTER: I have organised and presented several events and panel discussions focussed on food. One of the highlights has been Douk, a sold out Lebanese charity event in February 2025 for Bedayati, a small charity that provides career training for marginalised youth and women in Lebanon. I was keynote speaker at a Be Inclusive Hospitality event in December 2025 talking about my struggle for identity as a Palestinian and Lebanese and finding my voice through food. I have also done cookery demos at food festivals.
COOK: Much of my work is inspired by my personal life as a migrant and mother who cooks for her family. I have taught my children about their cultural heritage through cooking for them the food of my childhood. My kitchen is where I reconnected to my roots and found pride in my identity.
