Milestones & Aspirations

Lockdown in January 2021 inspired Angela to sign up to a creative writing course at City Lit over Zoom which then kickstarted a new career in writing.

In the space of one year she appeared in print in Platinum Magazine (January 2022) with a feature on how cooking has helped her maintain her cultural connections to Lebanon where she was born as well as pass on her cultural heritage to her children who were born and raised in London.

She was published in the award winning Gal-dem in April 2022 with an article on Lebanese Easter food rituals and recreating those happy memories for her children.

Her article in Time & Leisure (May 2022), online and in print, sets out some simple food hacks which she picked up from her Lebanese heritage for increasing the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables in a family’s diet together with an easy recipe for a healthy dinner which makes use of leftovers and follows her golden principle for healthy eating which us to “eat the colours of the rainbow”. She is a regular contributor for this local magazine covering South West London and Surrey with restaurant reviews.

Various online magazines have published her work such as mothertonguetv.com (food stories of migration, race, authenticity and second generation) and MarmaladeandKindness which promotes the concept of mindful cooking.

In order to practice her craft and raise her profile for the ultimate aim of a publishing deal, she has been publishing weekly columns since February 2021 on her food memories and our emotional connection to food. Her posts can be found in the “Instagram Blog”.

As well as her personal essay style, she also writes fiction and her story “Love, Loss & Recipes” was selected to feature on the first online issue of the literary magazine The  Other Side of Hope in Autumn 2021.

She is a member of the Guild of Food Writers and is available for freelance submissions or more regular feature or column writing. Her 5 year plan is to publish a book of memoirs with recipes covering stories ranging from her childhood during the war in Lebanon, growing up in Brussels, the impact of the loss of both her parents and then becoming a parent herself.
